Tray surfing in the rain is intense, although at high-speeds, it can be quite perilous. I would recommend traysurfing after a rain, when the ground is damp, but not soaking wet.

Grease the bottom of your tray with either condensed, Processed, or caramelized lard, or tabletop butter. This should provide for a smooth and fast ride as long as the pigs don't catch you, in which case you would be better off either running or jumping into the open window of your car. Also, it would be better to have a car with really good pick-up so as not to be caught and fined by our bacon-buddies should the unthinkable occur. And perhaps it would be fun to have your driver go through a skate park so you could jump of some quarter pipes or perhaps grind a rail or fly off of a fun-box.

For extra-ordinary tray surfing you will need the following. 1: 2" thick strips of industrial strength velcro... Comes with adhesive on both sides so it's like tape... Home Depot. 2: 8 bolts and nuts 3: Halex 2-Bag 2" EMT Two-Hole Strap. Home Depot - 99 cents 4: two old rags 5: duct tape 6: a grip of trays 7: a drill and bits that match the size of the bolts. ----------------------- step 1: get out the two hole straps and 1 tray step 2: place the straps on the tray. (these are going to be used to hold your feet onto the tray). step 3: after getting your placement the way you want it, mark where your holes will be for the bolts. step 4: drill your holes through the tray. step 5: before bolting on you straps, you might wanna pad them - so put the old rags around them with a grip of duct tape. step 6: bolt on the straps. make sure that the bolts are coming UP from UNDER the tray. The side with threads should be facing the sky when you put the tray down. Then screw on the nuts. ( I would advise possibly throwing in a lockwasher so they dont come loose.) step 7: after you have your straps bolted down, flip the tray over. get out your velcro and stick two big strips onto the bottom side of the tray. step 8: get another tray and stick the matching side of velcro to this tray. ------------------------------------ Get the idea? We got our surfing tray and then we got our contact trays. When your contact tray wears out, bust out the velcro and setup another tray. Just stick in on the bottom and you're good to go. You can do tons of tricks this way. Colin let's go try it out -- I found the PERFECT place to do it....

Here are some ideas from my friends and I. In addition to most of what you guys said, try these out: 1) double stack trays, duct tape them up, and make footstraps from duct tape (that way you can do tricks a lot easier); 2) find a place with jumps (loading docks are excellent), ramps, rails, curbs, whatever. The more shit to grind/jump/fall on your ass from, the better. 3) When you fall, let go. Seems like a given, but my friend got dragged for a long time last night before he figured that out...4) Mammoth Mountain trays leave nice whit streaks all over the parking lot. Kinda cool... So ya.
